Professional Experience

Eduardo Michelena is a Partner at Romen with more than 35 years of professional experience. His practice focuses on business and wealth planning, advising domestic and foreign companies, as well as families and individuals with active and passive investments engaged in commercial and service activities, including banking, media, oil and gas, cryptocurrency, construction, pharmaceutical, and other industries.

In the commercial area, he has led legal teams responsible for numerous domestic and international capital markets transactions, financing and refinancing structures, collateral arrangements, acquisitions and divestitures, mergers, corporate restructurings, international trade matters, service agreements, negotiation, and mediation. In the area of family and personal advisory services, he has established countless wealth planning and asset protection structures for active and passive investments involving complex interactions across multiple international jurisdictions.

Currently based in Miami, Florida, he also serves as Business Development Director for a major business conglomerate.

• Law Degree, Andrés Bello Catholic University (1987), ranked 6th in a graduating class of 92 students.
• Completed the Income Tax Program offered by the Extension School of the Central University of Venezuela (1989).
• Completed the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard University (1990).
• Completed the Negotiation, Mediation, and Arbitration Program at Pepperdine University (1996).
• Completed the Management Program for Lawyers at the Institute of Higher Studies in Administration (IESA) (2005).

• Has served as director and statutory legal representative of domestic and foreign foundations and companies engaged in banking, media production, investment, and commercial activities.
• Served as an International Visiting Lawyer at Slaughter & May, London (1993–1994).
• Has served as a member of Protector Committees in various wealth planning and asset protection structures.
• Member of the Bar Association of the Capital District (1987).
