Our history
Rodríguez & Mendozawas founded in 1910 by two brilliant and outstanding lawyers. Dr. José Santiago Rodríguez, who, among many other positions and activities, was a founding member of the Academy of Political and Social Sciences of Venezuela, Vice President of the highest court of the Republic, Permanent Member of the Court of Arbitration of The Hague, mediator together with the United States of America in the conflict between Honduras and Nicaragua, and Venezuelan Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia. And Dr. Cristóbal L. Mendoza, lawyer, litigator, professor of Roman Law and International Public Law at the Central University of Venezuela, historical researcher, founding member and member of the Academy of Political and Social Sciences of Venezuela since 1915, member of the National Academy of History since 1928, Minister of Finance in 1937, member of the Venezuelan delegation to the Bretton Woods Conference, and first Legal Consultant of the Central Bank of Venezuela.
In 1930 Rodríguez & Mendoza had already positioned itself as one of the most important law firms in the country, especially in the energy sector, counting among its clients the main international oil companies operating in Venezuela at that time, in addition to providing legal services to many of the industrial, banking and insurance companies that by that time began to emerge in Venezuela.
Since then, Rodríguez & Mendoza has established itself as one of the leading law firms in Venezuela, with special relevance in the areas of oil and energy, banking and insurance, tax, manufacturing, corporate and labor law. Currently, more than 50% of our client portfolio is comprised of international companies in the energy (oil and gas and related services), banking, financial, capital markets, steel, pharmaceutical, industrial, services and consumer goods sectors.
A large number of lawyers and partners of the firm have been and are professors of law at important universities in the country and have contributed with their books, articles and opinions to the formation and development of the country's legal doctrine.
